About Taiwan Society of Indoor Environmental Quality

The quality of indoor air significantly affects the comfort and health of the public. To effectively promote the management and improvement of indoor air quality in Taiwan and to integrate resources from industry, government, academia, and research institutions, an application was submitted to the Ministry of the Interior to establish the Taiwan Society of Indoor Environmental Quality (TSIEQ). The Ministry approved the organization’s formation on January 17, 2006 (Ref. No. 0950015024), and the society was officially founded on April 27, 2006, at National Cheng Kung University in Tainan. The establishment was later officially registered with the Ministry of the Interior on June 1, 2006 (Ref. No. 0950089860).

TSIEQ is dedicated to promoting high-quality indoor environments, with a strong focus on international collaboration and cross-border research. On April 27, 2006, the Society signed a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Society of Indoor Environment, Japan (SIEJ) and the Korean Society of Indoor Environment (KOSIE) to foster cooperation. TSIEQ also actively supports initiatives to improve indoor environmental health in Taiwan.

The organization is structured into four key committees:

  • Education, Training, and Publication Committee

  • Membership and Finance Committee

  • Research Development and International Affairs Committee

  • Industry Collaboration Committee

In addition to organizing academic seminars and participating in related training programs, TSIEQ is also involved in national projects related to indoor air quality, including environmental assessments, technology evaluation for improvements, and the promotion of voluntary management practices. Moving forward, the Society aims to strengthen international academic exchanges and serve as a communication platform for Southeast Asian countries where indoor air quality development is still in its early stages. TSIEQ is committed to providing technical support and services to advance indoor air quality across the region.
